Web Frameworks

Javascript Libraries

  • pjax "is a jQuery plugin that uses ajax and pushState to deliver a fast browsing experience with real permalinks, page titles, and a working back button." (used e.g. by GitHub)
  • SockJS - WebSocket library (with fallback emulation)
    • Clients for Twisted (Python) and other languages/frameworks
  • WAMP (Web Application Messaging Protocol) - standardized RPC and PUB/SUB over websockets
  • React - library for building user interfaces intended for high performance

  • d3 (low level)
    • Used by Cockpit 5), Foreman 6)

  • CoffeeScript: looks like a nice improvement of Javascript syntax. Sort of like SASS for CSS, it compiles to plain Javascript.
  • Emscripten - LLVM to Javascript (compile C/C++ to Javascript)
  • asm.js - low-level subset of JavaScript (for compilers like Emscripten to generate); to be supported in future Firefox

Mobile Frameworks

The below list is kind of old. Today (2014) I think the general frameworks Bootstrap and Foundation are probably more popular (see css).

  • JQTouch
  • JQuery Mobile
  • Sencha Touch
